Privacy Policy

UVwise ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We designed UVwise with a privacy-first approach — your personal and health data stays on your device.

1. Our Privacy Principles

• Local-first: Your skin profile, session history, and health data are stored on your device only.
• No accounts required: You do not need to create an account or provide personal information to use UVwise.
• No tracking: We do not use advertising trackers, analytics SDKs that collect personal data, or fingerprinting.
• No selling: We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

*Location data is sent to Apple WeatherKit solely to retrieve UV index and weather data for your location. We do not store or log your GPS coordinates on any server.

**Subscription data is managed by RevenueCat and Apple's App Store. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID (not your name or email) to manage subscription status. See Section 6 for details.

3. Location Data

UVwise requests access to your device's location to provide accurate UV index data for your current position. Location access is used for:

• Fetching real-time UV index and weather conditions from Apple WeatherKit
• Displaying your current city name on the dashboard
• Recording approximate location with completed sun sessions (stored locally only)

You can control location permissions at any time in your device's Settings app. If you deny location access, you can still use UVwise but UV data will not be available.

We do not:

• Track your location in the background when the app is not in use
• Store location history on any server
• Share your location data with any third party beyond Apple WeatherKit

4. Apple HealthKit

UVwise offers optional integration with Apple HealthKit to sync sun exposure sessions. This integration is:

• Entirely optional — you must explicitly enable it in Settings
• User-controlled — you choose which data categories to share
• On-device only — HealthKit data never leaves your device

In accordance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines, we:

• Do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing
• Do not sell or share HealthKit data with third parties
• Do not store HealthKit data outside of the Health app and UVwise on your device

5. Notifications

UVwise may send local notifications for:

• UV level alerts when UV exceeds your configured threshold
• Daily morning sun safety reminders
• Timer alerts during active tanning sessions

All notifications are generated locally on your device. We do not use push notification servers, and no notification data is transmitted externally. You can manage notification permissions in your device Settings.

6. Third-Party Services

6.1 Apple WeatherKit

We use Apple WeatherKit to retrieve UV index and weather data. Your approximate location (latitude/longitude) is sent to Apple's servers for this purpose. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy

6.2 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives:

• An anonymous app user ID (automatically generated, not linked to your identity)
• Subscription transaction data from the App Store
• Device type and OS version for compatibility

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, location, health data, or any personal information. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

6.3 Apple App Store

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. Apple's terms and privacy policies govern all payment transactions: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes

7. Data Storage and Security

All user data (skin profile, sessions, routines, preferences, check-ins) is stored locally on your device using:

• SwiftData (Apple's on-device database) for structured data
• UserDefaults for lightweight preferences

Data is protected by your device's security features (Face ID, Touch ID, passcode). We do not operate any servers that store user data. If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

8. Data Retention

Since all data is stored on your device:

• Deletion: Uninstalling UVwise permanently deletes all app data
• Export: Sun session data synced to Apple Health remains in the Health app independently
• Backups: App data may be included in iCloud or iTunes device backups, subject to your backup settings

9. Children's Privacy

UVwise is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided data through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to address the concern.

10. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:

• Access: All your data is visible within the App at any time
• Delete: You can delete individual sessions, routines, and check-ins within the App, or delete all data by uninstalling
• Portability: Session data synced to Apple Health can be exported through the Health app
• Revoke permissions: Location, notifications, and HealthKit access can be revoked at any time in device Settings

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to erasure and data portability. Since we do not collect or store your data on our servers, these rights are inherently satisfied by the local-only storage model.

11. International Users

UVwise is available globally. Since user data is stored on-device and not transmitted to our servers, no cross-border data transfer of personal data occurs. Apple WeatherKit and RevenueCat may process limited technical data in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or App Store update notes. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
